Abstract

Contemporary development of vocational education and training in our country has to do with its positive impact on people’s employment and economic activity and is accompanied by a number of challenges for continuous improvement at various aspects. The main purpose of the following study is analyzing the development of vocational education and training in the context of employment dynamics and economic activity in Bulgaria by outlining a number of challenges and fields for future improvement. In order to achieve the set goal, a series of research tasks have been accomplished, grouped into three main directions: a) development of vocational education and training in Bulgaria; b) benefits of vocational education and training in the context of employment and economic activity; c) challenges concerning vocational education and training and a necessity for changes. The results of the research show that vocational education gives a number of advantages on labour market, which have to do with opportunities for higher employment and economic activity, as well as with access to higher levels of payment.
